NEUROMODULATORS

At Ageless Skin Rejuvenation Med Spa Virginia Beach, VA, we have an effective injectable solution for expression lines that can help you live wrinkle-free. Our injectable neuromodulators contain neurotoxins which, when injected into the muscles, relax those muscles to prevent exaggerated muscular contractions. Post-treatment, you’ll achieve a well-rested appearance and can live free of lines and wrinkles. We can also use Botox to treat certain conditions, including TMJ, migraine headaches, and hyperhidrosis.

NEUROMODULATORS

The neuromodulators that are FDA-approved to smooth lines and wrinkles include Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau. These injectables work by temporarily smoothing expression lines by relaxing the muscles and reducing lines and wrinkles.

Neuromodulators can treat current expression lines, keep them from worsening over time and help prevent new wrinkles from forming. When your skin can rest from repetitive expressions, it takes on a smoother-looking appearance, making you look younger, more approachable, and well-rested.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT TREATMENT OPTION

Each of the neuromodulators we offer is designed to target different areas of the face. They all have very similar formulas, but some differences exist. Additionally, some products cost more per unit than others. The best way to determine which of these neuromodulators is the right choice for you is by scheduling a consultation with us.

We will examine your specific expression lines in person and then make treatment recommendations, including which product and how many units will sufficiently relax your muscles to target and eliminate your unwanted expression lines.

WHAT CAN THEY TREAT?

Our wrinkle-relaxing injectables can address a number of different aging-related concerns. We can use them for both cosmetic concerns and medical concerns. Patients who suffer from hyperhidrosis, a condition that causes excessive armpit sweating, migraine pain, or TMJ, can schedule treatments with one of these injectables to find relief. We can also use one or a combination of these injectables to address different concerns, including:

  • Forehead lines
  • Bunny lines
  • Chin wrinkles
  • Crow’s feet
  • Frown lines
  • Platysmal bands
  • Lip lines

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE TREATMENT

After we complete an initial consultation to determine which of these products is right for you, we can schedule your appointment. To begin the treatment, we will cleanse your skin and apply a topical numbing solution. This numbing cream will ensure you don’t feel the needle or any discomfort during treatment.

We will use a very thin needle containing the exact amount of units your treatment areas require to smooth lines and wrinkles. The injection process is quick and only takes about ten minutes to complete. Once it’s over, you can resume your normal daily activities.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO NOTICE RESULTS?

After your treatment is over, it will take a few days to notice improvements in your treated areas. All of these neuromodulators are relatively fast-acting, but it will take a few days for the active ingredients to relax your muscles and for you to notice a change in the appearance of your skin. Results can appear within two to three days or as many as seven days post-treatment. They’ll continue to improve for 30 days after your treatment.

HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?

All of the neuromodulators that we offer deliver long-lasting results. For most, these products last anywhere from three to six months. Results vary among patients based on how quickly their bodies metabolize the formula. Regular treatments will help you maintain results and reduce the total number of treatments you need each year as your muscles atrophy over time.

HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED TREATMENTS?

Follow-up treatments are necessary to maintain results long-term. Your body will eventually metabolize the product, and at that point, your expression lines will reappear. Follow-up treatments can prevent lines and wrinkles from reappearing and help you maintain your desired results long-term. Most patients need follow-up treatments three to four times a year. However, with consistent use, many patients can reduce treatments to two to three times per year.

IS THERE DOWNTIME?

There isn’t significant downtime after this treatment, but you must follow some aftercare instructions. You must avoid touching the treatment area after your injections since putting any pressure on the injection site can cause the product to migrate into a different area of the face or body. Additionally, patients should avoid working out for 24 hours and temporarily avoid anti-inflammatory supplements or medications to prevent bruising.

It’s also important that you avoid sun exposure post-treatment and anything that will increase your body temperature. We will give you instructions regarding what to do and want to avoid after your injections, including which products you should apply to your skin.

WHO IS A GOOD TREATMENT CANDIDATE?

Patients who want to use neuromodulators to relax expression lines and wrinkles or treat medical conditions like TMJ, migraine pain, and hyperhidrosis make good treatment candidates.

It’s important that you are in good health, understand the treatment process, know that follow-up treatments are required to maintain results long-term, and are not allergic to any ingredients in the products. Our pre-treatment consultation will ensure which of these products is the right choice for you.
